About SquaredAway
SquaredAway lists every Ontario contractor we can verify through public records — building permits, trade licenses, regulator registries. So when you find someone here, you can see they've actually done the work nearby.
Finding a good contractor online usually means wading through review-farm sites and lead-generation funnels. None of those tell you whether the contractor has ever pulled a permit in your city — the single strongest public signal that someone is a real, active builder. We started SquaredAway to change that. Every profile is grounded in verifiable work: a real permit record, a real trade license, or a real municipal registry.
We import building permits from Ontario municipal open-data portals (Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener, Brampton, and more to come), plus provincial regulator registries (Hamilton licensed trades, GTA trade masters, Ontario General Contractors Association). Data is refreshed periodically from the source.
If your business appears in our directory, you can claim your profile. Claiming gives you control over your public contact information, specialties, bio, and project portfolio. We only verify that you represent the business.
SquaredAway is built entirely on publicly-available Canadian data. Our code is straightforward, our data sources are documented, and every profile shows where its information came from.
